PROSTITUTES OF STORYVILLE, NEW ORLEANS 1897–1917

Storyville, the red light section of New Orleans was named after city alderman, Sidney Story. The district was opened in 1897 and officially existed for twenty years. It was one of the largest red light districts to ever operate in the United States. First, this book presents a brief history of New Orleans and Storyville. Following the history, a number old newspaper articles are reproduced. These articles were published during the twenty-year span of the Storyville operation. These articles show the activities of the women and men who worked in this unique red light district. After the newspaper articles is a list of over 1,600 names of prostitutes who were active in the red light district. This book also contains a hand drawn map of the district, Sidney Story’s obituary and a short glossary of terms.

TALES OF COLORADO’S SPORTING WOMEN 1860–1920 WITH A LIST OF OVER 1550 NAMES

This book presents a history of prostitution as it operated in early Colorado. The text describes different types of prostitutes and how they operated. There are also stories about some of the ladies. In the back of the book is a list the names of over 1550 women who plied their trade between 1860 and 1920. Book consists of text, lists, old photographs of the time and old photographs of prostitutes. The book is limited to 650 signed and numbered copies.
